Propane-powered buses reduce pollution

In September 2005, L.L.Bean and Friends of Acadia reaffirmed their partnership to support the Island Explorer bus system, a network of 29 propane-powered buses operating on eight routes through Acadia National Park and local communities. Thanks to L.L.Bean's support, the Island Explorer, which operates mid-June to mid-October every year, has carried over 2 million passengers, reduced smog-causing pollutants by more than 11 tons and prevented the release of over 7,300 tons of greenhouse gases.

L.L.Bean's financial support for the Island Explorer program underscores our ongoing commitment to responsible recreation, conservation and preservation. We encourage you to join L.L.Bean in supporting America's national parks.
